Legendary Gear, PvP, Sign Petition Here

Legendary gear is incoming - and it is going to be even harder to acquire then epic gear (and even stronger). Everyone who wants to play PvP at a semi-competitive level will know what this means. The grind to play competitive PvP at the moment is VERY hard as it is - some of us have just BARELY been able to put up with it because this game has great PvP once you have reached 40 with some good lvl 40 epics.

When you introduce legendary gear the grind to be able to play competitive PvP will be insanely harder. You can see by looking at the forums that the large majority of PvP players just want to have a fair fight - by adding legendary gear you will make this basically impossible.

You will see the reactions about legendary gear over the coming weeks - these forums are about to get A LOT more whiney then they already are. I already know 5 people who are saying they will completely leave this game if legendary gear becomes usable in PvP and has better stats then epics (including me). This announcement was made about 20 mins, and already 5 people I know are going to completely quit the game if this goes through...and these are the most active people who play the game.

If you think finding a PvP match using matchmaker is hard at the moment, just wait till they add legendary gear. It will be twice as hard (if that) to find a match. And when you do find a match, it will be even more imbalanced.

The most simple fix for legendary gear and pvp balance would be:
A) The difference between legendary gear and epic gear is ONLY the looks and the skin. You could make lots of cool skins for legendary gear and it would still be awesome to have. Everyone would be happy to know that balance is being 100% destroyed and people would be happy to know there is better looking gear out there to get - its a win-win situation in my opinion.
B) Add PvE only bonuses to the items (stat description could write "PvE only" next to some of its extra stats). Or there could beseparatePvE and PvP stats for each legendary item. This fix sounds slightly more complex and tiring however.

Please post your thoughts here about legendary gear and its effect on PvP. This will really show if they care about PvP just a tinybit.

Petition is to have legendary gear NOT effect PvP (stats-wise). It can have new skins or PvE bonuses only, but no PvP advantages over Epic Gear.

Guys, why can't we just eliminate legendary gear from tournaments all together...or something of that nature...to even the playing field or w/e...epic gear and lower...

Just like setting rules in old AoE days, like no siege or walls...etc?

There are not tournaments on everyday. There are no chest/pvp rewards for playing organised pvp matches.|||Imagine how huge gold selling would get if thishappens!|||I actually like the concept of legendary gear. Something that will take a long time to get, looks cool and you get some solid bonus' :p I see it as a problem for PvP where you want to have the best of everything. Im not opposed to legendary gear but there needs to be something in place that will still make the level playing field in PvP possible. Perhaps something like a cap on how much you can use in your gear hall or something per civ. That could also work with focussed strategies IE you only equip the limited legendary gear you have on your towers for tower spam.

For PvE it is a great idea, but there is still lots of us playing PvP'ing and by implementing this you are making the game near-impossible to enjoy pvp-wise.|||No legenday gear, its boring enough to get to lvl 40 and gear (actually lvl 30) to start decent pvp´s and then get that #$%& gear, start new civ is hard enough too...
|||Just make the gears suffer a 0.7x penalty in PvP so they would be worse than normal Epic gear there. Shouldn't be too hard.

I'd have to say no to legendary gear as well.

Before we start pushing the game ahead with stuff like that, I'd rather see more options for each slot under the current tiers, rather than introducing a new super-tier. It's perfectly possible to introduce new end-game content for PvE without introducing legendary gear. Simply adding more (balanced) variety in epic gear should be enough. Even if the difference between legendary and epic gear will be small, as indicated on the screenshot, it's still a tangible advantage that is likely to be disruptive to PvP play.

I like that they made an announcement to update a bit on the course of the game. The problem is, while the announcement showed that they're listening, they announced things that go precisely counter to some of the concerns that lots of players have raised. This is simply moving the goal post further in getting good, balanced games, which is already hard with the matchmaking matching vastly different levels of players and with gear differences, while increasing the amount of time necessary to invest in play before you can "start" playing PvP properly.
