Greek Advisor Units Discussion - BIS List

This is mostly just opinionated and your advisor units will probably be selected based on play-style preference. Anyways, the point of this thread is mostly for discussion on what advisor's you find are most effective for Quest / PVP.. (Mostly pvp since it's the end-game it seems @ lvl 40)

Age 1 your best bet is probably Survivalist Agathon, 2nd best likely being Closet Organizer Irene.

Age 2 has a few more options and is more dependent on play-style, Personally I find Greek's strength lies in it's Infantry units, that being said for a "Infantry Powerhouse" build I would go with either: Trainer Thoth or Infantry SergeantHerakleides. Another viable option might be Herbal Healer Hyginus, although considering that in PVP a good counter vs. Eggy will be our Greek Priest units, so i'll personally use Priest Units to do the healing as they are useful and a most definite counter vs. Ele units (Egypt's strength is def their Cavalry, and priests counter so provided you're smart enough to protect / encase them with Hoplite units.

Age 3hands down has to be for Pezhetairoi Commander Tumerok, which is absolutely the best infantry unit Greece has to offer. This isn't so much opinion as it is fact. 2.7 second train time, 15 food / 20 gold, 9 SPEED?!?!However, Considering that your other infantry units (Namely Hypyapist) are amazing anti-infantry units, a reasonable alternative for Age 3is: Phalanx Commander Herculos. I chose this as 2nd best because when you obtain BIS gear for Hypapist, you can simply nearly match the effectiveness of Tumerok with your Hypapist units as far as dmg output is concerned, although cost is slightly more (and less speed that Tumerok). But you gain a formidable (although slow) unit vs Cavalry.

Age 4 i have been currently playing with Hetairoi Commander Jason, this unit totally eliminates the need to build expensive Palintonon units, or Slow (and still expensive) Ballistas / Battering Ram. The moblility of the unit is amazing for the amount of damage it does, has excellent health, reasonably cheap cost and low population requirement. 5 units can destroy a fortress in about 8 seconds so their power is unquestionable. For a more PVP oriented build (provided you can reach age 4 in a ranked pvp match against a capable oponent) I'd chose Lionidas. Hoplite's being a very appealing unit in PVP (good counter vs Ele's) are vulnerable to snares and are limited by mobility, giving them snare resist and more HP is very appealing in my opinion.

That pretty much sums it up, let me know what you guys think and if you have any better suggestions!!

With everyone pointing that out lately, my senses tell me "NERF INCOMING"!

|||

I'm all up for nerfing Tumerok so long as they Nerf Cavalry Archer and War Ele's.

Hopefully they buff Phalanx speed, it's so horrid.

|||

Concerning the fortress units -and the cards to make them trainable- I've tested so far:

Phalanx Commander Herculos and Somatophylax Commander Matius.

The Somatophylax are good. And can be spammed too with their 4.45s training time.

But *** they are slow! :P

|||

Desert Cav are pretty amazing IMO.

Actually... I don't know what people are saying when they say that Advisor units suck. They arent overpowered, but if you are not in full lvl 37+ epics, just because of the spamability and the cheap cost they are very useful.

Pez are ridiculous, but its really just the cost/train time. The fact that you can constantly pump out an army in seconds makes them OP.

|||Age 3 - 40% off golden age or 30% off town centers/fotresses seem like the best advisors for age 3|||

Given that Greeks already have decent anti-infantry infantry (Hyps) and anti-cavalry infantry (Hops) by the 3rd age, they really done 'need' another infantry unit. By age three you will likely already have a number of barracks, just keep using them. I would favor 3rd age advisors that give other bonuses.

A combo that I loved in the Beta(have not tried it in the actual game) is once you are decently equipped with epic gear, with 3rd age Pamphilos and 4th age Leonidas - never need to make siege and the Hoplites cut thru any buildings amazingly fast.

I don't see how 40% off golden age is a viable option in pvp, am i wrong to be under the impression that the outcome of most matches are determined by how you execute in age 3? If you find yourself getting to age 4 regularly in high-ranked matches then i guess that's viable.. but i doubt that is regularly the case.

I still think that Tumerok advisor is the best for Age 3, little cost, high mobility, 2 second training time.. if you can pump out 40+ units (and you can) most matches are over.

|||A lot of matches (especially when equal in skill) can drag onto age 4. And it's much easier to hit age 4 when it costs 40% less.

Usually if you manage to get a fortress down anyawy in PvP the game will last a long time (compared to normal games).|||

While this is just a PVE example, it's very applicable to any PVP encounter:

Hit age 3, took about 3 minutes to make exactly 100 Tumerok units, i sent them to kill 3 Fortresses, 2 Town Center's, and collect some chests (partner i was helping DC'd so i decided to test it out with some Cyprus quest). Basically took 3 minutes to make 100 units that wiped out 3 Fortresses and the 2 Town Center's and Several Elite enemy units, and i still ended up with 38 Tumerok units.

I wouldn't sacrifice that Advisor for anything.. There was no need for Age 4.

Again I understand that this was more of a PVE example, however anyone you fight in a PVP match isn't going to have 3 Fortresses and 2 Town Center's and about 20+ elite units (not including the 40+ regular units they had).

PS. I don't even have the epic Tumerok Advisor
