Good morning everyone, just a quick question to know if anyone ever saw the stats/costs of an Armored Elephant, either for the normal, experienced, veteran or champion version. If you can post some pictures : it's worth a thousand words :)!
Thanks for your help,
Burnout
|||i think its 400 food and 300 gold and 4 units
as far as im aware they are only slightly heavier on the gold cost compared to normal elephants.
|||Normal ele is 300 food 100gold (not including -15% star tech)|||I'm pretty much certain that armoured elephants cost 300 food and 200 gold but are 4 pop.|||Okay and someone has a picture or something of the stats of the 4 versions please?
Thanks you
|||on average, 4,000 hp and 50% ranged resistance, 60 attack x4 vs siege and buildings, 6 speed. 300 food, 200 gold. one of my favorite units in the argo's questline, added some fun to some insanely boring missions

The elephants changed color in your pictures, the bulk being the copper colored ones I'm familiar with and then some were silver which I hadn't seen before. This is related to a question I've been having for a while, does having a different rarity of Elephant Master Namor change theappearanceof the armored elephant? Would that be how you get the golden elephants I remember seeing on the main AoE: O page before they changed it on release day?|||your right, rarity does change looks for all advisor units, including Armored Elephants. im not familiar with the epic version, though, as i never reached lvl 40 before they locked the egyptions out of the beta. youll have to ask someone who has the epic Master Of The Chase Namor (ironic name)|||I have epic Namor and I believe the elephants are golden.
|||Does anyone know the going rate for an epic namor?|||How much health/dammages for the epic one?|||
Good evening,
As this is a discussion regarding a subject I have had many discussions about ingame already, I would like to inform you of what I have found in my researches/tests during gameplay.
First and foremost I can assure you that the Armored Elephant, in its current state, is NOT a unit worth investing your hard earned coins and 4th adviser slot in.
I will explain my opinion in detail below:
As many of you already know, the Armored Elephant is a popular Egyptian unit that can be obtained from finding the Elephant Master Namor adviser card, and is available from the Fortress at Age IV.
Below I can show you, by use of screenshot, why the unit is vastly inefficient, and completely overshadowed by its non-armored little brother at later stages of the game. Nevertheless, at least you will know what it looks like after this. :)
Note: The screenshots are taken at Age IV, with full Armory upgrades, at level 40. The only technology in my current build that affects the regular War Elephant is the 15% cost reduce star tech. They are normally (without any cost increasing/reducing gear or techs) 300 food and 100 gold each. The War Elephant is trainable at Age III, though obviously cannot be upgraded to Master and/or Champion until Age IV, and the Armored Elephant is trainable at Age IV. Both units train at approximately the same speed. (give or take a few tenth of a second)
First of all; The looks.

As you can see, the Armored Elephant is not lacking in its looks compared to a regular epic geared War Elephant.
The stats.

This isn't bad at all. However...
The stats of a regular War Elephant + gear used.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f294/EQ-Existence/AoEo/welephant_gear.jpg
Now, as you can see, the stats of a regular Champion War Elephant, once decently geared, utterly crush the Armored Elephant, rendering it even more useless than it was in the first place. Because unlike the War Elephant, the Armored Elephant suffers from reduced speed as it is so "heavily armored". Consider that the use of elephants for an Egyptian player is usually to counter siege with, the reduced speed can heavily affect the survivability and use of the Armored Elephant.
TL/DR:
A list of pros for both Elephants in comparison to each other in an equally upgraded situation:
War Elephant
- More hit points
- More damage (even more so if slotted with the Tusk Sharpener 4th age adviser instead of Elephant Master Namor)
- More speed
- Twice as cheap in gold
- Can be upgraded using gear
- Can be trained at Age III
Armored Elephant
- Looks better
My conclusion/advice:
Do not get this adviser card unless you have absolutely nothing else to spend your coins on.

I hope this information is useful for people that have been wondering about this unit.
Kind regards,
Morkaine
i knew all advisors become obsolete in later lvls, but ***, that hurt :( espicially considering you dont even have the best gear equiped dmg/hp wise
ah well,atleastthey still look cool.
|||Wow... Thanks for all the information, but I'm in agreement with Oligx, ouch. That doesn't seem like how it should work... if a unit's going to A) cost more, and B) take an adviser slot just to obtain, it should probably be better than the unit it'scompetingwith, rather than that pretty poor showing... especially if you have to get to the IV age just to use it.|||Actually, I still gladly use the Desert Cavalry adviser, even at level 40, because it is a unique unit. A cavalry unit that is effective against ranged. Egypt's only cavalry against ranged. They also have very decent stats for a cavalry unit of its cost and train at high speed. Another very nice unit is the Desert Swordsman. Both of the above are a perfect combination with Chariot Archers as they share the exact same speed, and train at extremely high speeds. The Desert Archers are very specialized units and is only useful in a few situations imo.
The Armored Elephant is so far the only useless adviser unit I have found for Egypt, because it is a direct mirror to an already existing, and inevitably superior, Age III unit.
I wouldn't bluntly state every adviser unit becomes obsolete at 40 if I were you. From my experience, it's really not true. :)
Armored its better, but War you can add convertion resit to War elephant which it is the most dangerous enemy
