Egyptian Ele's

Very good HP, Fast, Good damage, Splash Damage, Good vs Building's/Infantry.

Imo you are going to make a powerhouse unit which is good at everything it should at least sacrifice speed....I think they should be nerfed to be slower.

Any thoughts on this?|||

I don't see why not, they are used as tanks anyways.

I wonder how powerful elephants will be when Persian civ comes to live!

AoE 1 they were 50% faster than all other elephants X_x

|||Elephants should indeed be slower in the game. I know realistically they could run fast, but follow Age of Kings example and make them slow, much slower.|||Tanks are usually always slow...thats the point lol.|||

I'd rather they increase it's footprint so elephants aren't as capable of clumping up and focusing their AoE damage onto the same group of units.

Once you get enough of them, their 'small' footprint lets them focus fire without the enemy being able to focus them down. If they were more spread out so 4-5 elephants couldn't fight the exact same clump of units, then the massing of elephants would be much less of a problem.

And Tanks aren't slow, find me a game where the 'tank' unit is at the back.

Anelephant'stopspeedis about 25 mph for a short distance. Fully loaded with gear and a rider, this would be allot slower.

In fact the elephant should be slower than a villager. A Human running speed can be 35-40 mph.But this is only a game and I like stampedes.

I would also wish to see the in game elephants push down trees.

40mph is faster than olympic athletes on the 100m sprint, an average human would be lucky to pull 8 15mph.

Lol, 70+ DPS, 950 HP, Quite Fast, long range, excellent at 'Hit and Run'...yeah, I think so too. :P|||

@CheezeThief - tanks are either slow OR have low DPS. However ele's have high dps due to Splash (and being amazing vs buildings)..

My point is the ele is good at EVERYTHING.

From the RTS I have played:
EaW: t4b's+atat's were tanky + very slow
CCG: Paladins, Overlords
Demigod: The Rook
AoE2: The Elephant!?!?!?!?, Teutonic Knights
MountAndBlade: The more armour/tanky you are the slower your character moves...

Forgot to add, Hoplites in Age of Empires: Online - slow.

Tbh pretty much every game I have played have tank units as slow.

I dont really see games where units are literally good at everything with no downfall...

If ele's were age 4 it would be ok, but they are age 3. Greeks have Hippikons - but they are age 4.

|||And lol agreed - Chariot archers **** everything....and are just amazing at *** villies at harass (best unit ingame for harassing).|||I made a thread about this in the suggestion forum last night. My first idea was to just increase their pop cost to 10. Maybe if their damage could be significantly reduced against cavalry then camals/prods would be an effective counter. Making them slower would allow archers to kite them which would be another effective counter. They need something though. My perspective is as an Egyptian player, and just knowing after quite a bit of play that no other strategy works nearly as well as massing some War Elephants and just roflstomping everything on the map.

Ice4ciD, maybe you should read your own link because fastest ever recorded was 44.72Kilometers Per Hour.

That's less than 40mph. Hell the very next line in your link says that human beings cannot run faster than 30mph.

On topic 10 food cap is pretty ridiculous change. Yes war elephants are really good and should be toned down perhaps, but more than doubling it's food cost is way over the top.

Just nerf speed imo and go from there
