In my country I have to pay more than double for AOEO than in US or UK!
If you change your browser language to an other country/language you get in the XBox the price tags in the other currency (or just change the code in the Marketplace URL: en-US, en-GB, de-DE, de-CH):

I think the price politic of Microsoft is NOT okay and it is also extremly unfair, that the customer gets a button for Sesons Pass I "buy it for $99.99" and then the price changes to 199 CHF = $246.35!!! Please correct the prices for the countries outside US!
I just bought the
Premium Greek Civilization Pack for R165 or 165ZAR (south african rand) which works out to something like 23US$..
I don't think the 3$ that I paid extra is that big of a problem, because I had to buy my MS points through a local company that sells them, because in South Africa we can't properly use Paypal yet.. the 3$ extra is profit towards the company selling the points locally, which I can't do directly with Microsoft. I had my MS Points within 5 - 10min from purchase so I AM VERY happy about the service..
edit: I presume that some other countries people also buys via a company and not directly, which is why they are paying more..
|||ms needs to stop to think that 1$ is the same as 1€|||The swiss conversion seems off.|||dammz microsoft .. what u got against swiss? i mean.. i would totaly get if the german would had to paid that price.. but the swiss.... wellz.. i tough my country would win the prize with $175,USD ... congratz swistzerland!
|||Thats what the Swiss get for putting holes in their cheese.|||
Yet Canada is the cheapest on the last at 1360 MSP per civ... Then again, the Canadian dollar is stronger than the American dollar. It's also listed as $19.99 CDN per civ and that's roughly $23.00 USD (with exchange rate) because the Canadian dollar is higher than the American. If they list it as $20 USD it should be listed in CDN as $18.
It's all messed up. They NEED to hire someone who can do basic math conversions. I do understand exchange rates can have a +/- 6% factor but were at a 15% factor rate, not 6%.
|||You should remove the 100% from USD as it is a baseline ( or make it 0% ) since UK is 101% . makes sense right ?|||I like it, that the prices in some countries are deeper than in the US. Does anybody know which index or statistic Microsoft uses to set the price tags for countries? Or is it really just the sympathic index? =)
Two other countries:

@drupanu: I think 100% for the baseline (USD) is fine... So, Russians "just" have to pay 56% of the US price.
In the countries I checked Switzerland has the highest price with 214% and Russia the lowest with 56%. I'm looking for the country with the lowest price, do you know it?
|||"So, Russians "just" have to pay 56% of the US price"
Poor country, you see :D
|||as a swiss, I feel beeing over and over by M$ and Steam with their horrible conversion rate they do to us. Depending on the CHF fluctuation, we sometimes have to pay in $/euros and sometimes in CHF with a rate of 1euro=1.50CHF....always the most unconvenient solution for us. lol CHF was almost paar with euro some day ago!!
on the other hand, it still represents a cheap price if you compare with our average hourly salary so I dont feel like complaining too much^^

Ithink you will find russia is a very wealthy country.
|||Norwegian prices are even worse. Premium civs are going for 199NOK which is 36,91 $USD each. Almost double the price compared to US.|||
I think converting money from a business standpoint is a little more complicated than just straight up conversions, you need to take the economies of the country into consideration.
For instance, I could go for a nice night out in the U.S. for let's say $200, many countries I could do the exact same thing and end up spending only $20. I can buy a premium civ for $20, not a single person in the other country would buy a premium civ for $20 converted directly, that would actually be like paying $200 to them.
In Switzerland the Season 1 costs nearly 7 times a premium civ and in the US it is just 5 times.
Or in UK is the Season 1 is 32 times an Empire Extra pack and in the US it is 20 times.
It is not logic, why is a software bush in US more expensive then in UK?
In minium the prices of the different downloads in the shop should have the same relations in all countries (Independent of the currency and the economic disequilibrium).
Or an other example that Microsoft has not realy a plan what they do is the Special Launch Offer:
In USD it is fair: Special Launch Offer ($39.99) contains Premium Greek ($19.99) + Premium Egyptian ($19.99) + Defense of Crete ($9.99) = $49.97
So you get 10$ for free... thats fine.
In Switzerland you pay 6 swiss francs more with the Launch Offer instead you buy the products seperately:
Special Launch Offer (79 CHF) contains Premium Greek (29 CHF) + Premium Egyptian (29 CHF) + Defense of Crete (15 CHF) = 73 CHF
Please tellme if i'm wrong, but in my opinion the Micro$oft sales people are total US focused and has no idea about prices in the world and don't cares about it!
Or they think swiss people are stupid and uses for calculating the prices an IQ index combined with the average income??? ;)
