Hi there
I was just thinking... I've seen a lot of posts about the "missing content" of the game, and all the things people wish to see in the future. Most of these things tended to revolve strictly around pvp. Understandable but is it enough for making a successful game?
Those things have been mentioned several times already, but personally I think that the Auction House and Replays are among the most important features that the game needs.
Why these two, why not the skirmish mode, like a lot of players suggest? Or a better matchmaking system? Or even the "all content for the F2P"?
In fact, I dont know if you're like me but in order to stay hooked to a game I need things to do, things that never give me a feeling of "enough". A rush to epic items is fun, will keep me occupied for a while, but when you have your items, then what?
I bet there a lot of players like me who enjoy the economical part of the game: crafting is nice, but selling your craft, making profit, things like that backed up by an Auction House would generate a new dimension for the game, something that technically never ends. I've always gone for the economy in most of my MMO. I'm sure I'd spend a huge % of my gaming time doing that!
But what about the replays? Same thing, but for different players: the best way to learn for sure. But also think at the extraordinary media it could create over the internet, the "free advert" for the game, with videos of battles all over youtube, strategy sites, forums... video replays would be analyzed, debated... the game will be everywhere. In fact, it would democraticize the high level gaming, giving access to strategies to everybody, not only initiates of certain inner circles, or for people who "already know" how to rush/flush/expand... Something which existed when AOK was the king of these games. I've learned *a lot* simply by spending hours watching replays. And yea, I also think that there cant be better advert for the game than these videos, and create a "something to do" when you log out of the game, something which isnt in the game, but still a huge part of it, if you know what I try to say :P
Anyway, it was just my two cents of € concerning two "wished content" often seen as low priority content by pure RTS fans, and we do understand why, as they dont touch their pvp directly, or are part of the MMO aspect of the game they often neglect.
Let's hope for the best, and that we'll hear from the developers soon.
Regards all.
Kryptophoros
just add premium-plus-civs packs for another 20€ enabling you unique uber items you can't get with premium and make it extremley rare so you can buy it and rush for them
i think that would be enough
@ ObjektMoewe746: that's the dumbest idea i heard in a long time.
@ OP: yep, those two things are needed just as much as the PvP improvements.
|||Do you exploit pve for gold? If so then I bet you do enjoy selling and ***. There is too much flush gold from exploiting right now and the prices are insane.|||
Asking for a replay system is kind of silly IMO with how many free screen recorders there are out there. It's kind of nice to have much smaller sizes to share in some cases, but you mentioned youtube and there are already tons of videos for this game up on youtube. Not having an in game replay system isn't hampering that at all.
I'm pretty sure I read they are working on an AH, but I don't think it will do any good until they fix the economy. Ignoring the "exploits" it's still too easy to get both gear and money. There's only a few really rare things people are willing to buy and since money is more or less useless at a point their price is just going to sky rocket as the weeks pass.
auction house: hm then it's how in every other mmo, boring! so it's everytime exciting so watch tradechat :)
replays: wtf xD that would be a mini mini update which i will never use.

@Sanati
The difference between a recorded video with fraps for example and a replay, is that the replay can be analysed ingame, paused. You can click on units, check every corner of the map to see which units are created while the fighting occurs.... much more interactive than a pure video imho
