What are the Item Going Rates?

I haven't seen any info on prices. Just yesterday i got an epic advisor from chest and i was asking double what the market gave me (I'm F2P) which was 500. the next thing i know alot of ppl wanted it and the bids poured in. It ended up being sold for 4.8k (one guy was going to give me 5k but he took too long). So 500 up to almost 5k is a big difference and i would have easily been ripped off.

How do us Free Players prevent ourselves from being ripped off if we do not know the prices.

|||I sold pure gold ingots recipe for 13k. Yesterday i saw a guy who was trying to sell it for 3k or something. I'm a free player too. I don't care about the rare and epic items/recipes but i don't want to give them away too. Because it's just not fair for the premium users. One of'em tries his ass off to get a nice epic item but luckly another one gets free or cheap stuff from a free player. So i'm trying to sell those items for the highest prices. Not all of'em but the nice ones.
|||some experienced player(s) should make a sticky with a list of powerful and expensive items, maybe a quick review on how effective they think the item is, and a rough price range for selling them.|||As you know markets are constantly changing as more people level up. This is why any game with sence has an auction house. To not have an auction house on release is a disgrace
|||

It will take a long time for all of us to work out how much each item is "worth". An auction is a very good way of working out how much people are willing to pay for something, but you also need to be sure for how much you are willing to sell it.

With the game only a few weeks old (for those of us not in the Beta!) we still don't know what is the "best" gear or the "best"adviser, nor do we quite understand how hard it will be for us to get these things in order for us to sell them. How long would it take a person to earn that item? How long would it take the same person to earn enough gold to purchase the item? Will they be much more "uber" in PvP with that item? The answers to these questions will determine an item's worth.

I agree with not giving the things away for free. Any hope of encouraging an economy is ruined by free stuff!

|||well the only thing im wondering about is how much the moes is worth atm as I might be looking for one soon.|||

There's no set "worth" to an item, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay, be it 500c or 5000c ....

I tend to go with anything upwards of double what the vendor will offer(perhaps more - it depends on the item), setting a really high price from the get go isn't about worth, it's about greed.

Setting prices high only archieves one thing, seperation, the rich get richer, and the poor struggle to get the things they need(ie. those with alot of coin vs those that have a little), that can only hurt the in-game economy(imho). If i see someone reselling an item i've sold them, i make a mental note not to trade with that player again, i like to(where possible) provide items to players that need them(instead of just aiming to make a mountain a coin from each sale).

If someone needs an item and thinks my price is too low, often they'll just give me more(because they feel like they're not paying enough - ie. they've determined a worth more than the price i've set) and i happily welcome them doing so, but i never set the price high to begin with, and players naturally choose to offer more as a result. It works well for me, i usually get at least double the vendor price, and anything more than the vendor is offering is great in my book, whether it's 800c or 10k ..

The high price issue as i see it(and as it was in beta) is a select group of users who like to think they control the market and can determine worth of items(a couple of them told me as much and seemed to be really pleased with themselves in doing so), i've never bought into that notion, never will, and will always offer items to players at what i'd consider fair(and affordable) prices, rather than limiting any given sale to the select few who have more coin than everyone else. Those big traders who charge ridiculous prices only posion the in-game economy, not supplement it(imho).

In short i think it all comes down to perspective and what's more important to you(coin or player opinion), and how you want those people buying from you to remember you.

Just my two cents, take it or leave it.. :-)

EDIT: For someone reason this forum isn't preserving spacing whenever i post now, no idea why, but i am writing my responses with paragraphs(it's not my doing is all i'm saying, before someone mentions the lack of spacing in my reply).

Second EDIT: Think i've finally solved the spacing issue, here's hoping.

Doesn't it boil down to supply and demand?

or the item is worth whatever the other guy is willing to pay?

While I agree somewhat that some prices are way too high, you have to realize that those prices are high because those particular items are fairly rare and in high demand. There are some epic advisors that the majority of premium players would love to have however there are nowhere near enough of them (currently) to go around, therefore the price will be quite high.

Selling that advisor for twice vendor (800?) is just ridiculous, even 4x vendor is still nothing when you consider the amount of coin out there and that there are not really any money sinks besides consumables. Once a player is level 40, what can he spend coin on? He either buys the epics he needs or blows money at Moe's. I generally wouldn't even consider talking about consumables since they can't be used in pvp.

Don't forget that some of these epics should be considered end game items, those epic advisors may not have level restrictions but you would not expect to see a level 6 player running around with a set of the very popular epic advisors.

I think a lot of the whinning about prices is coming from low-mid level players who think they should be able to afford all the epics they want right now.

I also think this is excellent for the F2P players, sell that rare/epic gear for a lot of coin and you can easily buy all the white/green stuff you want. Finding just one decent epic can mean 5k or more coin for a low level player who can then use it to get a lot of stuff that will help him for many levels to come.

What I recommend is asking around a bit before you sell any rare or epic you find. Generally, recipes, buildings and advisors tend to sell much better then equipment, consumables and decorations. It's very easy to jump on trade channel and ask for a price check of something, or ask in the channel if what you are being offered is a good price. Many players love nothing more then to point out someone trying to scam you, especiallay if it's for an item that they themselves would like to get..!

I'm not an experienced player but here's some idea of prices I've seen in the trade channel on Marathon.

Keep in mind this is one of the most populated english servers and likely the one with the most pre-release players.

Eitherepic storage buildings (20 slot): 3k - 6k

Moe's Mysterium: 15k - 25k

Popular epic advisors (some are Matius, Irene, Agathon, Nekhbet, Djer, Conall, Hyginus, Tumerok, Philon): 7k-15k

could be wrong on some of those and missing others, going by memory

Epic shops (armor and weapon): Only see it once and it was 11k+

Epic quest buildings: 10k+

Epic recipes for consumables: 2.5k - 7k

Epic recipes for materials: 4k-8k

Epic equipment varies a lot, some wont sell for for even 500 and others have bidding wars that reach around 10k, depends on what level the item is and what it gives as bonus.

Again, keep in mind this is on marathon server and I'm sure many of those players would disagree with what I've seen as it changes a lot. The point is, if you get one of these popular epics (or rares like Moe's), hang on to it untilyou know what the value is.

hope this helps a bit

I saw Matius go for 15.1k last night on Marathon, and there were 3 players that bid it up to there.

Prices will vary a lot, just need to know what items are valuable and then get an idea of it's value at that time by asking around.

|||

About the F2P being whatever uncommon and common stuff they need; while they are suppose to do that they can easily bank every gold they can save for if they go premium one day. Then you just transfer all the gold over to premium and the premium starts at lvl 1 with like 25k gold :)

Thats what i'm gonna do.

Yeah, prices are always set by the market.

Some guy has been hanging around Athens for a while wanting to buy Epic Matius for whatever he could pay, which then sets the price. If he overpays, everybody else figures that someone else will overpay, and that drives the price higher.

Personally, I once bought a Rare Pez Commander Tumerok for only 200g, as the guy was looking to sell it, and wanted the inventory space, but didnt want to vendor it. (Vendor price was 250, so he was just trying to help me out. :P) A few days after, I saw the same Rare going for 5k, which I thought was ridiculous, but apparently not that bad according to some people in the chat.

Even selling Delphi/Giza Limestones, the price goes from 200g (an absolute steal) all the way to 500g. (high but common) I tend to sell around 300, due to the rarity, and usefulness of the stones.

I find the simplest easiest way to find what something is worth is just to write "price check [item]" in the trade chat. This generally gets you a good idea of the price, and should be fair, since most replies will be in whispers. :P
