I just hit level 40 and I have 117 points all up.
Which would make sense, but this calculator http://www.aoewiki.com/wiki/Calculator/Greek says 120 so I'm not sure.
|||You start at the lvl 1. This means you will lvl up 39 times. Each of them provide you with 3 tech points : 39 x 3 = 117. So its all right.|||1498999000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000|||imho there should be more tech points
|||3 per every5 lvls? thattl add around 12 tech points. doesent seemt to be much "WHOOOOOOOOHOOOO!" when i reach lvl 20 or 10anyways|||I don't understand why they didn't give 4-5 pts each lvl so we can max out everything. If my math is correct there is 160 pts (not counting Startechs). 160/40 = 4.|||My guess would be that they might want to increase the level cap later on. If they choose to do so, then this current approach makes perfect sense.

I don't think so. Anyway, if they did so, they would just add some new technologies in the tech tree. The reason why they didn't let you max all your tech tree is that they want you to do some choise just as you would in a RPG. Will you go for a powerful infantery army or maybe for cavalery in priority?
|||But presumably the number of points is still too low, such that it is not enough to max out your tech tree even without star tech. This is kind of weird if you compared to say AoE2.|||
"This is kind of weird if you compared to say AoE2"
AOEO is not an AOE. this is rather like an RPG, you have to specialize. The problem is that you wont be able to adapt on the battlefield. For instance, if you specialized for cavalery and that your opponent is specialized in counters against cavalery = you lose or at least you play with a serious disadvantage.
|||they should allow you to have more than 1 tech tree at a price....kind of like WoW and its talent points...1 for PvE and 1 for PvP|||Wait a second you DONT get everything by level 40? Hmm, I guess I've always just assumed that you did. Well that adds a bit more customization to it beyond just the gear, but now I need to figure out which oens to pick in the end. Hmm.|||
IDEA
aoe3 had decks for your home city, allowing you to have decks which specialised in rushing, FFing, or other strategies as well as specialising in individual unit types.
why not have the same thing for the tech unlocks in AOEO? up to 2 decks for a free player, up to 4-5 for premium. you have to decide on the deck to use either before you start matchmaking or the moment you get into the game. that way you don't have to go through the time consuming business or retalenting because you feel like using archers instead of cav etc.
even if it costs some gold to switch decks, i still think it would be a good idea.

I don't think they want us to max out everything, there should be room for customization, so a player will have strong side and weak sides.
