The game been dropping in the amount of players. What is going on? =(

[:1]

The first week after release I seen about 2.5 ~ 3k players on Marathon... Last week it dropped to 1.6k ~ 2.2k ish and today I logged on it dropped to 1.3k ish?!?!?!? And right now is only 900ish...

Wudi is very sad. What's going on?

|||Boring, repetitive quests, unbalance, pay 2 win scheme, graphics, nothing to do when 40 and other like bugs and not enough content are telling people to go away, if I wouldnt be AoE fan, I would be miles away from this (actually I dont play anymore).|||

Too many bugs, too little features. Game should have stayed in development for 1/2~1 more year. Whoever asked this to be released on August 16 should have been fired. Having people write things about operation Can't Wait Any Longer is better than having people write things about operation Should Have Waited Longer. There's no advertisement, and pricing scheme is also turning people away. I am seriously questioning what is their marketing department doing.

I have also noticed 1 thing: The bajillion co-ops on Hector Must Fall, and a good amount of co-op quests before it, and the relatively few after. Maybe the more casual players are thinking Hector is 1 of those "pay 2 play" missions? It also doesn't help that a hard mission is bugged.

|||Personally I haven't played it for a few days because the quests are just too boring now and there is no skirmish and just buggy, the community was dead as it is (max 2.5 k players?) lack of proper coop and pvp support... it just started to suck. The number will keep dropping until they release more content and fix bugs... also the pricing will slow down any growth this game gets (if it gets any that is)|||Game sucks.

  1. The economy is blown out of whack due to exploits.
  2. There are numerous bugs in every aspect of the game.
  3. PvP is completely unbalanced, whoever spends the most coin or time farming has the best gear and that is a huge advantage.
  4. PvE is repetitive.
  5. There is absolutely no end game in sight.
  6. The booster pack rewards make it worse then F2P questing.
  7. Scammers have run off a few people I met in game so there must be many, many more.
  8. The scammers and exploiters have been allowed to run rampant for weeks now and we have not seen any action to fix the issues aside from saying they will fix it in a future patch.
  9. Little things like using chat window don't even work as they should.
  10. Last but not least, the lack of communication with the players is virtually non-existent.

The list as to why this is happening is very, very, very long.

|||I disagree. The list of why is short. In fact, it's 1 line. That is: The game should have stayed in development for another year before release.

The game should have stayed in development for another year before release.

I agree!

Another thing is: What's with the mass amount of servers? That only makes PvP/co-op/trade harder, and reports lower numbers. That makes people feel that no-one is playing the game.

Aside from the depressing reasons though, there are a few more other reasons I can think of:

  1. Most people will be playing a game a lot when it is released, and play less (in number of hours) afterwards. So there might be people who played like 4 hours/day during launch, and 1 hour/day now. That will influence the number of people online.
  2. People might start opting out of chat channels. Let's face it, they are annoying.
|||The problem is that its an AoE title w/out the AoE gameplay. Myself, and many others, have been saying it for months but we've been getting called trolls|||

Not to mention-

1. Its Wednesday Night

2. School just started

|||I can see an easy way to fix it though. Offer a monthly 50k first prize tournament like the GSL. As a bonus, this will also help to balance the game, as everyone will try to break it as hard as possible. :P

Where can you se that?

Anyway.. I too much miss the old features the other AOE have like history's -all- the stats easily visible and a good decent PvP with a game lobby that won't cost me any money since I already bought a premium Civ wichhad way tofew contentfor that kinda money!

I'll come back when they've patched the game to a decent game as it should have been released as, For now I'm gonna play Civ4 and Oblivion until Skyrim comes out and still checking this site in the (small) hope they actually gonna fix the game without charging us 20 euros for the patch.

|||The numbers come from the /who command on the chat channels, which shows the number of people on them.

Broken PVP. Thats why it will die, not because its implanced, no one can even get to that point, because there are not enough featuers in match making.

Here is the thing, the True-Skill thing is a faliure this implemenation. In practice there are still 35's matching up with 7 and 9's. With those kinda level differences, plus that it matches unraked free users vs unranked preium users with no option to match free with free. That combined with the level difference means the free acounts don't pvp much, which means the basis that the game is founded on (do you really think people bought AOE 1,2,3 for the single player?) is simply not there. The worst is that you cannot queue together if you want to make a 2v2 team. You have to find 2 other guys who want to play, then go through the arena. That could easily be fixed with a single button. I dont care if you want to try to sell another bonus expasion booster pack or whatever, but they need to add that or sell the addon to that now and fast, or lose the community aspect and the pvp. i hit 40 tomorow most likely, once i grab my gear, what am i going to do? I will end up playing battles against my friend until i get bored or they fix the queueing. Because A) no one is in the ranked queue, B) you can't have teams, C) your bound to get peasent rushed so the entire game will be decided within 2 minutes.
